National Business Case Competition

The Leaders of Tomorrow National Business Case Competition is a challenge like no other competition in the world. High school students analyze an MBA-level graduate school business case and present recommendations before panels of senior corporate executives and business school faculty. In the process, they must master advanced math, critical thinking, analytical, writing, research, and public speaking skills, and then present detailed financial projections and implementation plans. Judges are instructed to evaluate participants not as high school students, but with the same level of objectivity they would use when evaluating a graduate student or a potential professional consultant. Since 2002, the LOT National Business Case Competition has awarded more than $400,000 in scholarships and programming support.

Through the Case Competition, these same students are exposed to NBMBAA mentors and coaches who work with them intensively for months. They are guaranteed the help and resources they need to thoroughly communicate the impact of their ideas. In the process, they develop the ability to draw connections between what they are learning in school and what it takes to be a successful leader and the discipline to set goals and achieve them.

Most importantly, they develop the confidence that comes from believing you can accomplish anything.

In 2014 our LOT students prepared for a rigorous competition commonly reserved for MBA graduate students.  In an effort to earn up to $15,000 in scholarships and the experience of competing with students from all of the world our students studied material college level material over a three month period.  Using several medium types including Skype and Google+; our LOT students developed and presented a decisive presentation to corporate executives on how to improve Harley Davidson's customer base.  In addition, to being trained by top Cincinnati executives our LOT students took a field trip to the Norwood Harley Davidson who were so enthusiastic in providing the students with a sample of the Harley Davidson experience!

Cincinnati Chapter Experience

The case competition is such an exciting opportunity for the LOT students who encounter new experience such as being fitted for their first suit!  Our LOT students face many challenges in earning an education and includes financial.  The Cincinnati Chapter depends on donations from area businesses to pay for the travel and expenses related to receiving a real world experience through the LOT program.  The return on this investment is immeasurable, see below!

"I participate in a lot of professional activities in the community and in the past I had a suit that was given to me by a family member.  Now I have my own professional look and I am now comfortable being around the professionals that I meet!" - Alex

"I never thought I would need a suit in high school!  It feels good to be ready for the business world." - Andre

"I'm preparing to be a business owner now and I know how important a suit is when making a presentation.  LOT has definitely prepared me to become a business woman" - Lyric
